Shadow wall a total risk?

Schattenwand ein totales Risiko?

Discussion: Should tools be stored in locked cabinets or hung on open shadow walls?

There are differing opinions within the industry regarding the best way to store tools. Some prefer to store tools in locked cabinets for safety and organization. Others argue that hanging them on open shadow walls improves efficiency and accessibility.

My personal opinion on this is based on my own experience: If there's a concern that openly stored tools might disappear, I see this as primarily a responsibility at the management level. Effective management, such as the shift supervisor checking the shadow wall for completeness before the end of the shift, is crucial.

My experience shows that when managers are involved, shift handover protocols are maintained, and the reasons for open storage are clearly communicated to employees, tools do not get lost or stolen.

Employees develop a dynamic of mutual attention. While it may happen at first that, for example, a 13mm combination wrench ends up in a pocket out of habit, with time and the appropriate habituation, the success of an open shadow wall without a cabinet is 100% guaranteed.

What are your experiences?
Have you found that open storage systems lead to tool loss, or do you see advantages in quick accessibility?

I am very interested in your opinions and experiences in this area!
